Criminal defence interpreting

Crown Court trials, plea hearings, sentencing and case management — one named interpreter across the life of the case.

Criminal work is where continuity matters most: a client who trusts the interpreter gives better instructions, and an interpreter who knows the file renders evidence more precisely. Recent practice includes Crown Court trials, plea and sentence hearings, and case management across the West Midlands and remotely UK-wide.

What I cover

  • Crown Court and magistrates' court hearings — trial, plea, sentence, PTPH
  • Conferences with counsel, in chambers or by video
  • Prison video link conferences (see PVL)
  • Police station attendances (see Police & PACE)
  • CPS and prosecution instruction equally welcomed

For defence solicitors

CRM7/CRM8 attendance notes are provided as standard for legal aid recovery, and rates are confirmed in writing before each assignment. Whispered (chuchotage) and consecutive modes as the hearing requires.

Free 30-minute pre-instruction consultation

Not sure of your client's dialect, or how the logistics will work? A free, no-obligation 30-minute consultation is available to solicitors, barristers and caseworkers to confirm dialect and plan arrangements before you instruct. Case evidence is not discussed outside a formal instruction. Request it here or email bookings@mustafa-ahmed-interpreter.co.uk.
